Ms. Soumya Chawla shared her experience and journey from being a management student at VIPS and pursuing fashion business merchandising and marketing at Pearl Academy, and then being an entrepreneur of Kairos since one and a half years. Furthermore, she guided students to explore options by taking internships in order to gain experience and build resume, take guidance from faculty members. She concluded by saying that “creative side of yours will help you fight in the industry you are looking for.”
Ms. Palak Aggarwal talked about how having a strong base in college helped her later in life. She was very serious and committed to her internships and was offered a job while she was still pursuing her graduation. She successfully managed her job and studies simultaneously. She also expressed her gratitude to the faculty members who walked an extra mile to help her by taking extra classes. She advised students to follow the path of dedication and commitment. She concluded by saying ‘’take your internships very seriously, it is of great use and you never know who’ll call you back if they like your work.’’

Mr. Siddharth was passionate about cooking and music always. He worked as a financial analyst in American Express for 1.5 years before launching The Future is Female (TFIF). He talked about how destiny landed him an opportunity of turning his passion into his profession by meeting a friend, who was also the director of a café. He opened his own restaurant named The Future Is Female, Delhi’s first-of-its-kind all-women run restaurant with an all women staff—chefs, bartenders and servers. In his words, “Women are present in all industries, but are still considered less efficient in the restaurant sector. So, the idea was to make them capable enough to run a café & bar and make them financially independent.”
Ms. Sejal talked about how her journey wasn’t the smoothest of the lot. She aspired to pursue post-graduation but was unable to achieve her goal despite working hard. She was mentored by faculty at VIPS to explore other options and to always have a plan B. Because of which, she “took action rather than just merely thinking” and opted for a short term course in big data analytics. All of this was possible because she “believed in herself” that “she can” and grabbed the opportunities which came her way. She advised to follow their interests even if it is the unconventional path.
Ms. Surbhi Gupta shared her journey of how VIPS provided a platform to transform herself. She was a management student at VIPS when she got mentored by faculty to pursue a Joint Analytics course offered by the institute itself simultaneously with the regular curriculum to get a distinct competitive advantage. She also emphasized the students to learn and develop skill sets which are demanded by the corporate sector.
All the participants including faculty, coordinators and students involved themselves actively in the interaction round. They asked various questions about internships, soft skills, entrepreneurship, fund raising, learning new languages like Python, R and SQL among various other interesting topics. The answers given by the panel were extremely valuable. They also gave valuable advices relating to post graduation and work experience. The audience was intrigued by the answers that the panel gave and their curiosity was served with great responses.

“The challenge of life, I have found, is to build a resume that doesn’t simply tell a story about what you want to be, but it’s a story about who you want to be”
A resume is used to make a favorable impression on a prospective employer and is often the first impression a potential employer has of any candidate. Keeping this in mind, resume writing sessions were conducted by Vivekananda School of Business Studies for second students to prepare them well to apply and sit for their internship and final Interviews. A detailed schedule for the same has been presented above in enclosure 1. Students were asked to attend the session and prepare their resumes in detail within the session. Faculty members handled their queries and helped them to finalize a ‘ready to go copy’ of their resume.
