Mr Saurabh Bansal is a CA rank-holder and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. He has worked in the Assurance practice of a Big 4 in the TMT sector, and with a global IB. Till recently, he was serving as a market analyst at a leading brokerage
Mr Archit Aggarwal is a CA, and cleared all levels in one go. For four years, he was a part of the Assurance & Taxation practice of a Big 4. He has handled audit and consultancy assignments at one of Delhi’s leading firms and advised clients across diverse industries.
Summary of the Session:
The Placement cell of Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies organized Audit training module for the students of Vivekananda School of Business Studies on 7th August, 2019.
The session was attended by over 350 students. The session was organized to create awareness about the importance of audit training in commerce industry. Speakers started off with a very friendly approach specifying that there has always been a gap between academia and industrial interface. Further, they continued stating the fascinating world of commerce and different career paths. Speakers also explained the importance of audit, assurance, and valuations and how it is done. Mr. Saurabh further elaborated the concept of financial statements and excel sheets.
They discussed the importance of the practical skill sets in getting employment in major MNCs and Big4. They emphasized on the need of professional judgment and professional skepticism. The agenda of the orientation is to have practical insight in the field of audit and finance. They also conducted simulative activities and business activities walkthrough for students. They then talked about the Satyam case and how it shook Indian Inc. They also stated the example of IL&FS –the horrors of US Financial crisis and how the gravity of the crisis worked.
The event was followed by a question and answer round, where students asked various questions related to the session. The speakers guided the students on what type of internships the students should opt for. The seminar stressed on the need of self-introspection.
The speakers stated some real-life examples to connect well with the audience. The seminar ended by thanking the speakers for spending their valuable time and conducting a successful seminar.
